FOR THE LOVE OF THE BODY –Photographs by Mike Floyd
curves of the tree trunks
arching river coursing through rocky canyons
skeletons draping across mountain trails
graceful slopes in the of windswept dunes
lush curves of woman’s body
What I love about Michael’s work, whether he’s shooting carcasses hanging in village markets, cascading waterfalls or the female body, is the way he captures shapes, textures and intimate moments. I am continually intrigued by his artistic drive to frame the world of beauty while owning his own desire for the sensual landscape, in all its many forms.
VESTMENT SERIES –Mixed Media by Mary Ruhl
Mary began this series after a “Creating with Intention” workshop here at Core Source in January of 2007.
According to Mary, “The Pilgrim Girl collage was created quickly during that session, in which I realized that I must step up and “wear” the various qualities of myself if I am to have the courage to create. The series became a process of exploring and accepting who I am. It represents a willingness to show myself. All these collage vestments involve experiments with new materials and ways of adhering and fastening, combining and reproducing found or created images. This really sums up my working process; a constant arrangement and combining of things that I find in my world, a way of being in the world more than a mastery of a method or medium.”
